Microsoft Vulnerability
Please be advised that Microsoft has released an advisory about a serious computer security vulnerability that allows hackers to remotely take control of user machines. The victims do not need to do anything to get infected except visit a web site that has been hacked. There is no patch available yet, but there is a workaround that basically disables Video Active X. We will install this patch as soon as Microsoft releases it. We are checking with Microsoft throughout the day until this patch is released.
In the interim, there are 2 options available. Clients can opt to wait and be careful of where they browse on the internet or we can perform a workaround that disables the Video Active X applet. If you choose the disable option, please be aware that you will no longer have this function. Also, this will affect Bloomberg API, so you cannot use the workaround on any Bloomberg PCs.
RFA is constantly checking for the patch release and will notify our clients when it becomes available.
